Pencombe Arkwright Trust

This charitable trust was set up in 2001 with the object of the charity being “the general benefit of the inhabitants of Pencombe with Grendon Warren, Herefordshire in such charitable ways as the trustees think fit.” Full details can be found on the Charity Commission website.
The purposes of the charity are very wide. The trustees, who administer the charity, seek to help individuals or organisations with financial grants for activities or projects which can
- benefit the character or experience of an individual;
- assist in initiatives to provide future livelihoods, trades and careers; or
- schemes which will provide a benefit to the community residing in the parish.
Examples of previous grants include funding individuals to participate in a ‘character building’ event e.g. international Girl Guides jamboree; funding for specialist tools required by an individual setting up a new business; funding towards specific projects at the Parish Hall and the School.
The five trustees are currently:
Ex Officio: The Rector of the ecclesiastical benefice – The Very Rev’d Dawn Hyett
Nominated: Pencombe Group Parish Council – Tony Brazier
Nominated: St John’s Pencombe PCC – John Barrett
Nominated: Pencombe & Little Cowarne Parish Hall – Karen Hodges (and chair of trustees)
Nominated: Pencombe CofE Primary School – Jack Hopkins
The trustees meet twice a year in May and November to consider applications for funds. Applications can be made in the month prior.
So, if you live in the parish of Pencombe and there is something you really want to do which will benefit you (in terms of your character or experience) or will benefit the community, but financial assistance is needed to make it happen, maybe The Pencombe Arkwright Trust will be able to help.
